New Projects in the Works
Easter vacation is over and I’ve come home from the beach refreshed and inspired!

I finally started the gift for my sister, WallHanging/wallhangingforleslie.jpgLeslie, who wanted a wall hanging and asked for a reproduction of an original painting that is in my home. It had been sewn, based coated with a border, ready for the final drawing. The photo shows the background underway.
The design won’t be exact, but it will have my own personal stamp on it.

We’ve started what I call the Border Series. These were inspired by photos from a rug website. After making the stamps, borders were measured and stamps applied making almost the entire rug a series of borders.
A current job allows playing with pastels to lighten and brighten a CustomCanvasRugs/BorderSeries.jpgbeach home for the summer. The monotone canvas rug has different techniques such as sponging and washes to give each border more texture. We are also making companion rugs or canvas rugs in different sizes with the same border design.

The next project underway is the matching cushion covers to go with the hand painted canvas rugs! One side of the cushion cover will incorporate the design of the rug and the other with the design inverted. We are getting the acrylic paint as close as possible to the shades of the latex in the rugs.
Any of the Border Series canvas rugs (in various sizes) or cushion covers will be available as a set or separately.

While our rainy season approaches here in Costa Rica the northern climes, summer is on its way. My cousin in New Jersey brings out her canvas rug to her front porch every summer. It’s a sign the snow is gone and warm weather is here!

Now is a good time to freshen up a home with easy to take of canvas rugs that can be wiped clean. The cushion covers, too, are low maintenance and can be tossed in the washing machine; this 100% cotton canvas material only becomes softer with each wash.

Next on the inspirational train are flowered rugs. We have been working with tropical flowers but summer flowers of North America are special too! Photos will follow I promise, of the finished wall hanging, cushion covers and our new border designs installed.
