January 2010 ~ Our first (2009) Canvas Rug Design Contest has ended. Thanks to our many readers who particpated and submitted
incredible design ideas. Torn between two submissions, we have made a decision for our Grand Prize Winner and added a First
Prize.
Grand Prize goes to Lundy Wilder,
a talented and succesful encaustic cement tile designer and manufacturer located in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Her tiles have been showcased on national television and in home
decor magazines. Lundy's beautiful tile continues to grace the homes of clients around the globe, including UK, Europe and
the Middle East.
The sea life details of her winning 'Pescado' tile design, lends itself perfectly
to a canvas rug, especially for coastal or beach décor themes. Replicating the tile with stencils and matching Sherman
Williams paint, the rug is currently in production and will be shipped upon completion. Congrats, Lundy, and thanks for participating!
Our
First Prize winner for the second canvas rug design is Nicole Yee.
Nicole is a principle lead designer with NY Interiors serving both east and west coasts with her classic, understated yet elegant interiors. Her attention to detail can
be seen in her residential work for interior design, home staging for Real Estate Sales, Holiday decorating and more.
Nicole submitted an
elegant yet simple, nautical design of a sand colored seahorse against a black backgrounnd. The effect is classy and as a
canvas rug, works well with various themes and décor. The entire rug was hand painted on cotton canvas, using
a freehand with the focal design of the seahorse. Traveling, Nicole has yet to see her winning design, but promises
to send us a photo with it placed in her home. We appreciate your entry, Nicole. Congratulations!
Thanks, again, to all who
took the time to help make our first contest so much fun! And because the response was so great, we plan on running
another canvas rug design contest for 2010. This contest is open only to our Subscribers for Laurel's Design Newsletter. Details to be announced.
