The opportunity to travel to far away lands (Egypt!) has presented itself and in preparation
there’s a long “to do” list…one of which includes getting this month’s design newsletter written;
the second: meeting with a client to help her with a living room makeover using hand painted canvas for the interior décor
of her new home.
Initially, Toni had asked for a hand painted canvas cover for a futon-like couch ,“…faux futon,”
quipped her delightful husband. It’s always fun bringing up the canvas rug designs page on the website, to get a client’s reaction…oh! Ooohs! and ahhhs!...provide indicators as to what colors
and designs the client is drawn to.
Upon narrowing down the selected design with a request for a little custom change for
the couch cover, the discussion continued with the idea of painting one side of the canvas with one design and the flip side
with a different design but one that would work with the rest of the décor in the room.
It was a brilliant idea, really. How many of us
love to change the look of a room more than once every five years? With my pre-painted canvas sample we played with colors
a bit more and determined exactly the design she had in mind for her unique interior décor item of a double-sided couch
cover.
Toni
wasn’t quite done, however. While measuring the couch, she realized the pillows needed recovering; and what about a
hand painted canvas rug under the glass coffee table to go with the new canvas couch cover?
Two hours later the canvas designs, sizes and
colors decision for all three interior décor items was complete. Upon return from my trip, the sewing and pretreatment
of the material will be ready for painting followed by delivery and set-up for Toni and Al’s new home. Before and after
photos will be added to the site soon thereafter.
The Design Contest ~ Keep ‘em Comin’!
Our newsletter subscribers are going up, poco y poco, but up is good! Don’t
forget to submit your idea(s) for a canvas rug design. December seems like a ways off…but we all know how time flies.
There’s a new page now on the website providing the canvas rug design contest details. Remember, winner wins their design on a hand painted canvas rug.
Previous Three Day Sale
I want to thank those who attended the Open House Sale held last weekend at the mango wood furniture warehouse of Turi Imports. Really appreciate the support! Unfortunately, Jean Luis,
and his stunning natural hand dyed fabrics had a family emergency and couldn’t join us. Susan and I are talking about
maybe holding an open house on a monthly basis…will keep you updated on this idea.
New Designs
Several new photos of canvas rug designs and wall decor have been uploaded onto the website; if you haven’t visited for awhile…have a look!
Back in touch mid
June…with new and exotic design ideas, I’m sure.
Thanks for reading,
Laurel
